Electrical Engineer

Position Summary
MadgeTech Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to help create the next generation of data loggers, sensors, and accessories. MadgeTech Inc. is a world leader in the field of data capture and recording, and we rely on our innovative designs and smart interfaces to provide the customer with an exceptional experience.

As a successful candidate, you will join our team of mechanical, firmware and software engineers to create new and exciting products that push the limits of silicon devices. Our products are exposed to the toughest environments, and we pride ourselves on creating the most robust designs. You will already be familiar with digital and analog design, PCB layout, circuit simulation, and testing. You will keep up to date on the state of the art, including RF technologies such as Zigbee and Wi-Fi, Raspberry PI/Beagle Bone, and green technologies. At MadgeTech, you will hone your skills regarding low-power design, measurement techniques and theory and advanced signal processing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with a team of firmware, mechanical and software engineers to improve and develop new products and support the existing product lines.
  • Research, design, debug and test electronic circuits and components.
  • Develop embedded firmware for new and existing data loggers and sensors.
  • Ensure reliable operation of products under extreme conditions through analysis and validation.
  • Integrate electronic hardware, firmware, and PC software into complete systems in order to meet pre-defined requirements.
  • Develop test fixtures and assist in transferring designs to manufacturing.
  • Contribute innovative and efficient design techniques to allow rapid development of new product models and features.
  • Participate in all phases of product life cycle from specification to final integration testing.
  • Analyze design options based on complexity, cost, performance, and time to market and prepare documents to capture options and risks and share with the team members and management.
  • Work as part of a high functioning team to tackle design and delivery problems together.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in electronic design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience designing battery powered devices.
  • Microchip PIC / dsPIC or similar microcontroller experience.
  • Proficiency in C and assembly language programming for embedded applications.
  • Familiarity with design tools for electrical schematics, simulation, and PCB layout.
  • Familiarity with common communication protocols (SPI, I2C, RS232, USB).
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent resident.

Software Engineer

Position Summary
The Software Engineer will apply the principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of web-based software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintenance and debugging of code in existing products.
  • Co-operative development, documentation, and selection of new product architecture.
  • Work with the team to define and design new product features, both major and minor.
  • Investigate, design and prototype solutions to confirm scalability requirements can be met.
  • Plan, organize, and help direct Engineering projects including maintenance releases.
  • Work with Stakeholders to identify and define new features.
  • Work closely with Sales and Support to support critical installations on-site.
  • Collaborate with Engineering staff, Support and Sales to investigate and resolve customer issues.
  • Update and review design and user-facing documentation for software products.
  • Work in a small team environment using Agile and similar collaborative tools.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • BS or higher in CS, SWE, EE with 5 years’ work experience or non-degreed with 7 years’ experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with C#, ASP.NET, HTML5/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery.
  • 5+ years of experience with Visual Studio.
  • Expert level understanding of SQL and development using common database providers.
  • Experience working with common source control tools.
  • History working with and protecting the confidentiality of critical customer data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience with the following technologies is a plus:
  • EF6
  • AWS
  • Linux/mono
