Web Developer

MadgeTech, Inc., is a worldwide leader in data logger technology, established and based in Warner New Hampshire. The MadgeTech Marketing team has a Web Developer temporary position available to handle the day to day administration of www.madgetech.com and the MadgeTech Distributor portal.

This individual must possess a “Can Do” attitude and thrive in a fast paced, challenging, team-oriented environment. This is a temporary position that will directly contribute to the steady growth of MadgeTech's sales and marketing efforts and overall success. The right candidate for this position will have 2-3 years of experience in web development with a strong understanding of the fundamentals and a desire to continue learning.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Day to day management of www.madgetech.com including:
    • Updating site content through the Magento administrator interface including product pages, static CMS pages, static CMS blocks, web forms, and site navigation elements.
    • Working with the site codebase using CSS, PHP, and some XML to make enhancements to the site look and feel, as well as overall functionality
    • Applying Magento security patches as needed
    • Managing extensions used to enhance site functionality
    • Working with extension providers as required to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Day to day management of MadgeTech Distributor Portal including:
    • Updating site content through the WordPress user interface including pages, widgets, forms, and navigation elements.
    • Working with the site codebase using CSS, PHP, and HTML to make enhancements to the site look and feel, as well as overall functionality
    • Managing plugins used to enhance site functionality
    • Working with plugin providers as required to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Ongoing Search Engine optimization for both sites including:
    • Implementing page specific optimizations to improve search ranking
    • Maintaining the sitemap to ensure it is up to date as pages are added/updated/removed.
    • Using Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure expected content is being indexed successfully, and to resolve any errors reported

Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and jQuery
  • Experience with PHP based Content Management Systems and Frameworks including Wordpress and Magento
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues, as well as to research and propose solutions
  • Experience with Responsive Web Design
  • Understanding of Search Engine Optimization
  • Understanding of Web Application Security
  • Understanding of Web Development best practices
  • Strong organizational skills

Additional Skills Desired:

  • Familiarity with HTML5 and CSS3
  • Familiarity with SQL or MySQL databases
  • Familiarity with GIT or similar version control systems
  • Experience using WAMP for local development
  • Experience working with e-commerce sites
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or presently enrolled in a Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems program.

Marketing Content Writer

The Marketing Content Writer will play a vital role in researching and writing compelling content targeting industry specific customers through multiple marketing channels. The content writer will collaborate closely with other marketing team members, sales, and other internal departments to execute tasks to be a driving force for high impact content across the entire company. The content writer will report to the Marketing Manager.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Research and content writing for the following:
    • Product specification sheets
    • Website product and landing pages
    • Distributor sell sheets and web portal
    • Product user guides and manuals
    • Application and technical notes
    • Press releases
    • Blog posts
    • Newsletters
    • Articles
    • Software support materials
    • Email marketing
  • Independent market research
  • Presentation of statistics and findings (reports in various formats)
  • Product release tasks as needed
  • Miscellaneous campaign support tasks
  • Proofing and editing any content for publishing in print or online
  • Repurposing and optimization of existing content
  • Ensuring content is aligned with stages of the buyer’s journey

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strategic thinker and proven team player with effective communication and collaboration skills across multiple internal departments
  • Extremely organized with strong project management skills
  • Success establishing efficient workflow and process
  • Creative writing talent and flair for accentuating products and services to appeal to the end user
  • Ability to seek out relevant technical information to effectively and accurately complete content assignments
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage time to maximize productivity
  • Ability to work independently and know when to ask for help
  • Comprehension of collected statistics and information in order to support or validate conclusions
  • Flexibility in work style and the ability to change up priorities as needed
  • Attention to detail and pride in the presentation of your work
  • Positive “Can Do” attitude, focused on finding solutions and answers
  • Continue learning, training and communicate interests for skill building.

Education:

BA/BS degree preferred. Two to three years of writing experience in a technical field preferred. Experience with CMS preferred.
